ARU CONCERT SERIES PRESENTS: CONSTANT FOLLOWER + EMILY FRASER + BETH ELIZA

Constant Follower will be live and in conversation about his rapid rise in the international folk scene and to tell his incredible story of triumph over adversity after surviving a gang attack in Glasgow in his late teens that left him partially paralysed and unable to play guitar or write music.

Constant Follower's debut album for legendary New York indie label Shimmy Disc was shortlisted for the 2022 Scottish Album of the Year Award (SAY) and found its way onto the top of multiple ‘Best Albums of 2021’ lists, leading to a string of notable performances including Austin’s SXSW 2022 and SXSW 2023, and a spellbinding set from the crown of Scotland’s National Wallace Monument.

Stephen McAll's solo performances as Constant Follower are celebrated for their captivating intimacy and emotive depth. Opening for acclaimed artists like Brigid Mae Power and the legendary Bert Jansch, these solo shows have solidified his reputation in the Folk scene. Described by Folk Radio as "instantly compelling, memorable and moving," McAll's solo shows are a testament to his profound storytelling and musical resonance, enchanting audiences with their authenticity and heartfelt expression.

Emily Fraser is a Cambridge based singer songwriter with a phenomenal range and agility in her voice, from a rich sensuous earthiness to the resonating and hauntingly ethereal. She sings with a stirring reflective melancholy that lays bare a guileless vulnerability. The mesmerising rise and fall of her voice has the power to pull you through an array of emotions embracing you in a personal cathartic experience.

Talented singer/songwriter Beth Eliza is a final year Music Performance student at ARU. In the last year, Beth has worked hard to perform as much as possible, focussing on her perfomance and stage craft. Looking set for a bright future, ARU is proud to have Beth on this stunning line up.
