PIER23: Tackling online harms, a whole system approachEvents — Conference Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford
23 May 2023, 09:00 — 24 May 2023, 17:00
I’m pleased to confirm the date for next year’s PIER conference and ask you to ringfence the date for this important event. PIER23 will be held on the 23rd and 24th May 2023, and will focus on ‘Tackling online harms – a whole system approach’.
The highest profile conference of its kind, bringing together leading international and national speakers, whom are responsible for tackling the threat and implications of online child sexual abuse for victims, their families and offenders.
For the first time, we will host the two-day event both in-person and virtually, opening this free conference to a global audience. With sexual abuse of children online now one of the greatest criminal threats across the globe, PIER23 will bring together the highest profile national and international speakers dedicated to tackling this global challenge. Speakers will include those working at the most influential level in policing, public protection, technology and rehabilitation.
Delegates will learn about the work underway to address the threat at every point, from building resilience in children and educating families, to the management and rehabilitation of offenders, and helping survivors recover from the trauma of their abuse.
The conference will be run simultaneously in two lecture theatres based at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford, and will be streamed live for online delegates.
Completely free for all, with a reception on the evening of the 23rd, the PIER team will be hosting the biggest and most high-profile event of its kind this year. Registration and the dedicated conference website will open soon with programme information and speaker updates being added in the coming weeks.
