Running Artfully Network (RAN) presents: Running Towards a Sustainable Future (not from our House on Fire)

Events — Networking Science Centre Atrium and Theatre at Anglia Ruskin University campus, East Road, Cambridge, CB1 1PT.
21 June 2023, 10:00

Join the Running Artfully Network (RAN) at ARU, for a day of active, artful presentations and provocations, with a sustainable emphasis.

RAN is a new collaboration and network, that launched online in 2021. It emphasises an artistic approach to running by distilling the physical and poetic elements of running, curating links between art, social science, policy and more to probe how running can be a creative medium and driver for research content and strategy, and a catalyst for change.

We re-imagine running as an artistic practice to approach and confront the critical issues of today. These are particularly apparent in current concerns concerning climate change and sustainability. We acknowledge this by adopting Greta Thunberg's bold statement as our strap-line for this event in that we should not run away from our 'House on Fire.'

Join us for this networking event and website launch, primarily aimed at introducing RAN to colleague across faculties and the wider university, with a view expanding the network and encouraging cross-disciplinary collaboration and future reciprocal events and activities.

Through an active day of quick-fire presentations, provocations, physical activities, manifesto writing and more, presenters from the 2021 event, new members and guests will connect and reflect on their approaches, considering through the lens of sustainability, what has changed for them and what lies ahead for the future.

This event is free and includes refreshments and a vegan lunch.

We are grateful to the Sustainable Futures funding stream at ARU for support to be able to put on this event. Thanks also to Fermynwoods Contemporary Art for their continued support and support in kind for this event.
