I’m Xinglin Liu (xixi). My work often explores the connection of art, emotion, and environmental sustainability. I am interest in figurative drawing, capturing the "otherness" in their subjects, and creating connections through their artwork.
My work draws inspiration from daily life, such as a visit to Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech, and incorporates sustainable practices, like using discarded materials in their flower cluster installation titled "FULOWER."
Through my works, I seek to evoke emotional connections while raising public awareness about environmental issues. I was inspired by artists like Vanessa Barragão and explore how art promotes environmental sustainability and as a form of therapy.
The project is about the plastic waste generated in my daily life to create a future flower cluster installation. The main materials of the project come from the plastic waste items in my daily life and reorganize and reuse them to renew the value of plastic waste through art installations. By creating a flower device, I injected hope and life into the abandoned materials. Each flower has its own name and story, so they become a plant garden of special significance. The project was inspired by my previous visit to the Jardin Majorelle (this garden designed and renovated by the designer Mr. Yves Saint Laurent), which is located in Marrakech, Morocco.
