I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Animation from the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou and later obtained a master’s degree in Illustration from the Cambridge School of Art. This project explores how desire, from different cultural perspectives, can evolve into a curse. It focuses on four female characters:
Lin Daiyu from Chinese literature, who succumbs to sorrow and love, eventually leading to her demise.
Salome from Jewish culture, who takes a life in order to gain her lover's attention.
Medusa from Greek mythology, whose curse and anger result in harming others.
Rokujō no Miyasudokoro from Japanese culture, whose jealousy transforms her into a vengeful spirit.
Each story portrays complex emotional struggles, with the women’s love or obsessive desire transforming into a destructive force. Ultimately, the project reflects how emotions can spiral into desires, which may become burdens or even curses, and raises the question of whether we can truly free ourselves from these desires.
