PROTAGONIST SPLASH ART. He’s quite the charmer, huh?

Colombian Animator and Illustrator born and raised in East London; I challenge myself daily to express my own vision in different ways with each piece of art I create.

I am known online as ubiquitousZergio in most art spaces, mainly delving in community lead projects such as illustrative collaborations, graffiti collaborations, comics and such.

Painting, comics and graffiti have been big parts of my inspirations growing up, mostly from the embers of my father’s own art path in life. He taught me how to discipline myself with art, connect myself to what I’m putting down on paper.

A lot of what I’m doing online and by myself is testing out new colours, textures, character designs and graphics to really discover my voice by the time I become a seasoned artist. I focus on illustrative poster works that really catch the eye, sharp edges and vibrant colours.

The more I learn from the surrounding world the more I push it to its stylistic limit, and my work really shines because of it, at least to me! I hope this short excerpt of my work will suffice to show you!

HIGH CONTRAST is a high octane, action-oriented music video detailing the journey of an inspired artist coming to find his own ability can in fact change the world for the better!

The main driving force of this story is to show just how important your voice and identity can be in the greater scheme of things. I created this with my father as the muse, as his 60th birthday came to pass and I realised just how important his impact on me was growing up in the UK, as well as my family’s own roots in Colombian and Ecuadorian culture.

Our trips to these countries drew wild amounts of inspiration for me, with boundless possibilities for the loud colours and vibrant culture to be depicted within my three-minute short. All in all, this is my greatest showcase of fluid movement, moment-to-moment action and abilities in After Effects to their maximum potential so far.

I wanted to go all out here with HIGH CONTRAST, to the point where I commissioned my friend Crystalforce to score the hype-building, heart pumpin’ tune inspired by music from my childhood that you’ll hear throughout the short!
