My name is Amber Boyd, and I focus my work on both studio and portrait photography. I pride myself on creating work with a strong stand against beauty standards, and real women without the editing.
I’ve struggled with my own self-worth, body image and mental health, throughout my life and I want to change that for the future generations - they don’t need to stay up late at night, feeling sick by looking at their own reflection.
Being healthy is more important than your looks. This mentality is something that needs to be taught, it needs to overwrite the years of trauma and dangerous ideas that have been planted in our heads for years.
How do you see yourself in the mirror? Is it clean lines with clear defining beauty? Or is it a blurry reflection with a struggle of who you are staring back?
Do you even recognise yourself anymore? Or have you replaced yourself with visions of what the media wants you to see? The perfect candidate to buy some “get-skinny-fast weight loss pills?” Or maybe you need to spend hundreds on hair extensions to feel pretty?
I say you’re beautiful, that blurred image of yourself doesn’t need other people’s approval.
You’re fucking beautiful.
