My name is Capucine Caulliez. I’m a French photographer who moved to Cambridge to pursue a BA Photography.
My journey with image-making began during my IGCSE years and deepened through the International Baccalaureate, where I studied Visual Arts at a higher level. This early foundation taught me to see photography not just as a form of expression, but as a language.
I began with landscape photography – drawn to light, and stillness – seeking to capture the quiet beauty of natural environments. Over time, my interests evolved toward commercial photography, where I discovered a deep appreciation for the interplay between aesthetics, narrative, and intentional design. I became especially curious about how images shape perception and influence emotion.
Recently, I have been drawn to the power of visual merchandising and brand identity. I’m fascinated by how visual storytelling in commercial spaces can create emotional resonance, evoke a sense of belonging, and elevate a brand’s voice. For me, photography is about more than capturing a moment – it’s about constructing meaning, inviting interpretation, and shaping how we experience the world.
My work explores how photography influences consumer perception, brand identity, and emotional connection through design and interaction. This project examines how Nespresso’s crafted retail spaces shape customer engagement, using lighting, textures, and spatial composition to evoke exclusivity and create lasting impressions. Through my photographs in multiple boutiques, I move beyond documentation to reveal the emotional and psychological effects of Nespresso’s visual storytelling. The tactile materials – smooth marble surfaces, matte coffee capsules, and warm wooden finishes – paired with soft lighting, immerse viewers in the sensory journey from bean to cup.
A key moment is photographing the Nespresso Masterclass, capturing the movement, craftsmanship, and emotion of the coffee-making process, reinforcing how a seamless experience leaves a lasting imprint on the viewer.
My background as a Marketing Intern in Visual Communication at Nespresso deepened my understanding of design and brand consistency. Assisting in a professional gifting campaign photoshoot gave me first-hand experience with lighting, styling, and art direction. These insights shaped my boutique shoots, ensuring my photographs align with Nespresso’s high-end visual identity while maintaining my creative perspective.
This project reinforces my passion for photography’s role in shaping premium luxury branding, evoking emotions, reinforcing brand identity, and creating lasting impressions through visual storytelling.
