My work explores a personal approach to memories, family and relationships.
I work across a range of mixed media, with a focus on paper and my surrounding environment. Hand-made materials make up the basis of my current work and contain elements from my present habitat.
The visualisation of swans within my practice denotes a much deeper concept of spiritualism and leans towards a sense of reminiscence. Whilst birds in general form meaningful connections, the monogamy and sense of family that anchor swans together suggests bonds that are made through life, and this symbolism aims to give my work a deeper language of heartfulness, emotion and a connection to one another.
‘Folded Memories’ is a celebration of family and strong bonded relationships, interconnecting the past with the present. Reminiscing on my childhood and reflecting on my own lived experience now, the art piece is created with handmade paper origami swans, enriched with flowers and seeds from my local environment.
