Hi, my name is Harriet. I'm an Illustrator from Suffolk, now based in Norwich. Studying graphics and photography prior to my degree has hugely influenced the approach I have taken and techniques I have adopted in my illustrative practice.
I have found the work I enjoy creating the most is through using mixed media; it enables me to express myself in a playful style and experiment with colour. I'm passionate about film photography and find incorporating it as references for my illustrations exciting and more personal.
A lot of my work features collage, bold colours and shapes with the added elements of texture and pattern. I like to embrace the imperfections when using these techniques as they add to the individuality and depth of each illustration.
I have incorporated this method of working into my final major project with illustrations focused on the marketing and advertising side of the industry. These have ranged from a travel brochure, recipe cards and cocktail can packaging. I still like to employ traditional forms of illustration such as pencil and gouache with both featuring prominently in my research stage of projects.
I am passionate about typography and enjoy using it in conjunction with my illustrations. This has led to a focus on poster design throughout my whole degree. I would like to explore this path further in the future.
