A double page spread from a project to illustrate Angela Carter’s short story ‘The Company of Wolves’

Hello! My name is Issy Jones, I’m an illustrator from Hampshire.

I enjoy working narratively from literature and folklore from across the world. That focuses on the natural world.

I work primarily with gouache paint. My work is very colourful  and detailed. I add lots of small lines into my work which creates unintentional patterns that add a lot of texture to my illustrations.

My projects range from illustrations for books to website designs. But they all focus on telling a narrative - from the more conventional story of a book through illustration, to a knitting website where the illustrations help to share the stories of the meaning behind the companies name to where they source their wool from.

Illustrated wolves in various poses surround text about their nature, with a poetic description of their behavior and appearance.
Two smartphone screens display colorful illustrations of rabbits and people knitting, accompanied by text about wool and knitting communities.
