Hei! My name is Madelen, and I am an animator and illustrator from a small town in north Norway.
I focus on 2D work professionally, but my interests range to almost every creative avenue, all involving working with my hands and creating things.
Having practiced animation for three years I have become enamoured with the practice and enjoy every part of it the same as illustrating, and I want to pursue both practices further for my career.
I have had the pleasure of working for Flying Eye Books on a book-trailer for Shackleton’s Journey. I have done some illustrations and posters for Andøya Space Station, and I collaborated on promotional animations for 9 Trees and Action on Empty Homes, where I got to direct the animation. All amazing experiences.
Lossnord is set in Norway with a fantastical twist added in. It has Norwegian Sami influences and Viking elements woven throughout. The story reflects conflict between two opposing forces, in a literal sense, between love and war, in a deeper sense – between wants and obligations.
The project is heavily influenced by the creator, in addition to countless hours spent to make it, it is also very personal with homeland and life as inspiration.
