Marketing project based on clay model characters

My name is Olivia Digby, I am an Illustrator based in Hertfordshire. I am really interested in traditional art mediums, with a particular love for gouache and model making. I enjoy experimenting with mixed media to create different textures and bring a handmade feel to my work.

A lot of what I make is inspired by my childhood and feelings I had growing up; how big our imaginations are then and that anything seems possible. In my work there is a sense of reminiscing. My intention with my art is for adults or teenagers to feel that bit of nostalgia and for children to feel inspired or curious when they see my work.

I enjoy telling stories and I’m always looking for a new way to bring those stories to life. Throughout my time at university, I discovered my passion for model making. I’d love to work on projects that combine physical making with visual storytelling, for example, picture books, set design or Claymation.

I created a project linked to the seaside and growing up there, I made the clay houses as I was always intrigues by the colours and structure of the buildings.

I made a story book about not swimming out too far as I would always be told off for that when I was younger. I also made a blind box series which had the theme of a summer vacation so that it all tied in.

The fish project helped me realise my passion for model making and is why I chose to do it for my final project.
