I’m Percy, a queer Portuguese illustrator currently living in the UK with my partner and two cats!

I enjoy multiple areas of illustration, but storytelling and character design are my main focus – I believe the two are heavily intertwined. There’s a lot you can share about a character and their world through their design alone; you might find me putting a lot of thought into what kind of fabric they wear and whether they would buy the outfit I have designed for them. I love putting a lot of time and effort into who and why a character is a certain way.

With my final project, I came to learn that I am quite fond of item and weapon design as well as environment pieces as an extension of the character design that I can add lots of personal touches that maybe no one else will notice.

I love saturated colours and funky pallets overlaying the mundaneness of everyday life. It’s something that truly captivates me and what I have often made short comics about.

Concept work is important to me because, not only do I want people like me to see themselves represented in media, I want to create work that someone can look at and see just how much love, care, and attention went into it behind the scenes.

X-TRA is a concept art project for my own original characters. The plot follows three main alien royalty characters: Candy, Fitz, and Marina. Marina is the young queen of a planet thought to be deserted after a devastating war. For years she has kept Serenity’s forces at bay as a one-woman army until she is forced to recruit the help of Candy and Fitz.

The rest of my images are from different projects - see the captions for more info.

She meant a lot to me and my partner; somehow, she changed me despite only knowing her a few months. Mister Kitters was a cat that I encountered often with my partner on the way to bus. He got us through tough times, often we would motivate ourselves to go outside because we knew he’d be there on his little lawn.
