Fashion Design

Fashion design is an escape for me. As someone who has many health conditions, fashion is a place I can go to get away from it all. It is a place where the pain does not exist, and my creativity can flow and flourish in many ways. During my time on the course, I have gained many new skills that have helped me become more confident as well as cultivate my love for knit and crochet, which I always find a way to incorporate into my designs.

Sickle Warrior is an ode to my fellow sickle warriors. Sickle cell is a chronic blood disorder that causes pain and is restricting to everyday life. Those who have sickle cell are identified as Sickle Warriors as we have to battle this condition everyday and we do it without complaining, putting in 110% in everything we do. Inspired by the samurai, I have incorporated the silhouettes of their garments to create a gender-neutral street wear collection as well as crochet to signify the armour worn by the samurai warriors.
