I was raised in Puerto Rico, and I came here to Cambridge to pursue my graphic design degree.
Since I was little, I’ve always loved and appreciated the arts in all its forms whether it was theatre, visual arts, music or books. So, I knew I wanted to pursue something that would allow me to expand my creative thinking. And throughout my time in university, I was able to explore different mediums and techniques. I love taking inspiration from things I love such as comic books, books, video games, film, music, nature and the things around me. I am constantly looking forward for projects that challenge me and allow me to experiment even more.
Nightwatch is a board game heavily inspired by Slay the Spire, a rogue-like dungeon-crawler game. Influenced by comic books and video games I created a set of characters in a superhero world. I used a bold monochromatic colour palette to create an interesting comic book style that integrated retro techniques. Although this was my first time digitally illustrating, I found a new passion and unleashed a potential that I didn’t know I had.
The strongest superhero – named The First – has been mind-controlled and is causing havoc. Now it’s the turn of four outcasts, called the Nightwatch, to step up, help The First turn back into a superhero and save the city! Who will you choose? Felicity, Joe, Eight or Lagertha. Craft a unique deck, encounter different enemies and become strong enough to beat the supervillain, Dr. Silas Crane.
