I’m a filmscript/novel writer. I have always been fond of the horror genre, starting from books like Goosebumps by R.L Stine or Australian kid’s series Round the Twist, to the big players like Stephen King’s books and The Conjuring franchise. The horror genre has always been my go-to for literary fiction.
Aside from the adrenaline factor from scares, I admire the genre’s bold approach to sensitive topics. Topics that perfectly mirror the reality that most genres choose to shy away from. Though sometimes it doesn’t give satisfactory answers or conclusions to said topics, it always leaves food for thought which makes it stand out from many. I’m a devout Christian and have always had a desire to explore several topics about my faith and its message through my writing.
The first piece of work I included is Sacrilegious Grounds. It’s a supernatural horror filmscript inspired by The Unholy and The Nun. It focuses on corruption in the church and its role in why people abandon their faith, using themes of self-harm and injustice.
The second piece of work I included is Ghost of Greengale Forest. This is a supernatural horror novel targeted towards pre-teens (9-12 years) and its main inspirations were the Goosebumps books. It takes a lighter approach to the horror aspect, as well as its themes of bullying and trust.
The third is Fate of the Damned, a mash up of supernatural and post-apocalyptic horror that deals with themes of hopelessness.
The fourth is House of Screams, a mystery horror novel that deals with conspiracy themes as well as self harm and violence.
The fifth is Picture Day, a short silent film script that takes on an obsession-based theme
