Marsyas Trio (collage and pencils on paper)

Hi there, I’m Ciara! I’m a Cambridge / London-based illustrator with a love of drawing on location.

Much of my work tells visual stories of heritage and habitat. Whether I’m collaging & drawing detailed interiors or printmaking onto the back of juice cartons, I’m constantly exploring the relationship between people and place.

Most recently I was shortlisted for the Derwent Art Prize international drawing competition You can see my submission for it on Instagram.

I am passionate about the handmade image. In my bookshop drawings you’ll find all kinds of materials, from coloured pencils and crayons to watercolours and inks, all underpinned by collaged paper. The drawings you see here are of Bodies in the Bookshop, the local crime-fiction bookshop on Botolph Lane, Cambridge.

Additionally, my love of music has led me to drawing musicians, as seen in my post stamp collection below. For my Major Project I took this interest a step further by drawing musicians at live events. It was a privilege to draw alongside the music department at Cambridge University’s Churchill College, capturing the energy and spirit of a whole range of musicians and their music.

If you’d like a special place or musical event captured with a personalised creative touch, let’s connect!
