My name is Emma May, and I am a third year Interior Design Student at Cambridge School of Art. I have always had a passion for design and enjoy incorporating sustainable materials and plants in my concepts.

My hobbies include anything creative! From crocheting wearables to painting landscapes and scenery. If you enjoy my work, check out more at emmamayportfolio.myportfolio.com.

My Major Project was centred around the site at The Cambridge Museum of Technology, where I analysed and enhanced a small section of the existing museum - The Gas Engine Balcony.

In this design I delved deeper into the balcony theme through focusing on views and elevations, using platforms held up by cantilever technology and Victorian style iron arches. The extension parts of my design were created using materials such as terracotta and rammed earth which compliment the building's existing red brick.

The final design allows museum visitors to experience the Museums existing machinery and artefacts in a new, unique way, whilst also being able to look over the city of Cambridge - including the River Cam and Logan's Meadow. These views emphasize the importance of the Victorian technology, whilst also allowing visitors to experience its effects on the surrounding environment.
