My name is Holly and I’m 21 years old and have loved art and design for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was always drawing, creating, and finding inspiration in the world around me. Creativity has always felt like the most natural way for me to express myself, which is why I’ve decided to pursue a future in the Graphic Design.
After taking a gap year, I realised that university was the right path for me and an important step toward achieving my goals. My dream is to become either a tattoo artist or a children’s storybook illustrator—two careers that allow me to combine creativity, storytelling, and personal expression.
I’m excited to continue developing my skills, exploring new artistic styles, and turning my passion into a career.
For my Final Major Project, I created a cat café brand called The Bean & Blep. My slogan, “A cat café that serves beans and shows bleps.” (A blep is when a cat sticks out their tongue).
The concept focuses on celebrating black cats, as they are often the least adopted and most overlooked cats in shelters. This project is Inspired by my love for cats and growing up around them, I wanted to design a fun and welcoming brand that raises awareness while creating a cosy café experience for anyone to enjoy.
I developed the branding and visual identity using Procreate on my iPad, alongside Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. The project included logo design, colour palettes, illustrations, and promotional branding materials. My colour palette was simple, natural colours such as greens, browns and blues to reflect on nature. The design I am most proud of would have to be my poster designs, as they are comedic and engaging.
