Isaiah Cannell

I'm Isaiah (artist name ‘iziya’), and I'm a Cambridge based musician who loves making weird electronic music. I started playing drums when I was 7 years old, but I've been making music since I was 14 when I started using Ableton Live after getting a Launchpad Mini.

My music is mainly electronic, inspired by Breakcore and 90's Jungle and DnB, really anything involving drum breaks. I love exploring odd time signatures and layered rhythms, as well as interesting and unique uses of synths and sampling for sound design. I've recently become fascinated by xenharmonic and microtonal music (music in alternative tuning systems), which has been the topic for my dissertation and the music I’ve released recently.

Experiments is a xenharmonic EP I created where each song is composed in a different tuning system. Inspired by the work of Sevish, I wanted to really explore these tunings and experience what it was like composing in them for the first time. The 5 different tunings that these tracks cover are listed below:
