Knots of Resistance

I am a designer exploring identity through my own lived experiences. My work reflects the tension of carrying multiple narratives at once, investigating how personal and collective histories can coexist within a garment.

I use fashion as a creative outlet. The entirety of the garment design process captivates me — from the initial research and collating ideas within my sketchbook, to the physical act of constructing and bringing concepts to life, despite the challenges that come with it. Design becomes a way for me to process, question, and find comfort within myself.

Within my work, I make a conscious effort to consider political symbolism. I am passionate about how garments can be an outlet to communicate and preserve identity.

Knots of Resistance is a collection informed by the keffiyeh. The AW26/27 collection translates its geometry into sculptural knots and tensioned forms. The knot becomes a metaphor for resistance. Drawing from my lived experiences as a woman of mixed ethnicity. The garments explore inherited oppression and becoming comfortable in oneself while carrying complex history. Prints reference the symbolism of Palestinian resilience and endurance.
