Hi, my name is Julia. I’m a creative practitioner working across graphic design, animation, video editing, and digital media production. My practice explores visual storytelling through both design and moving image, with a particular interest in how media can engage audiences through narrative and live production.

As a Digital Media Production graduate, my work has developed through a multidisciplinary approach, allowing me to work across creative and technical processes alike. While my experience spans a range of digital media disciplines, I hold a strong interest in broadcasting and live production, particularly within fast paced and collaborative environments.

Through my work, I aim to create engaging visual experiences that combine creativity, communication, and technical precision.

The Unfinished Story of American McGee is a journalistic piece aimed to explore the life, career, and creative legacy of American McGee. The project examines McGee’s influence on visual storytelling within video games, particularly through his darker reinterpretations of fantasy and psychological themes, and how his work has inspired both audiences and creatives alike.

Developed through research, scripting, editing, and video production, the piece combines archival material, narrative structure, and visual analysis to explore the unfinished nature of McGee’s creative journey. Driven by a personal connection to his work, the project also acts as a wider criticism of the games industry and the increasing impact of corporate risk on creative expression.

Through examining McGee’s relationship with Electronic Arts and the treatment of his unfinished projects, the documentary reflects on how artistic vision and passion are often overshadowed by commercial priorities. Rather than functioning solely as a retrospective, the piece aims to explore the tension between creativity and corporate control, while highlighting the lasting influence creators can have despite unfinished work and industry limitations.
