Hi there, my name is Katie Turner. I would consider myself to be a multidisciplinary photographer because of how I shoot across a very wide range of genres and styles. I have a burning passion for motorsports and find it to be the perfect combination of two of my favourite things. I additionally love the tranquillity of wildlife photography – being able to capture such beautiful creatures is a pleasure. I have also dabbled in wedding photography which I found incredibly powerful and exhilarating being able to capture a special couple's day.

I first started getting into photography during Covid when I would spend a lot of time just walking around in nature. This was only done using my phone however it led me to taking the course during my A-Levels. I then quickly realised my passion for the art and was encouraged by my tutor at the time to study it at university. The skills that I have developed and learned from this experience truly has been life changing – both technical abilities as well as confidence.

I am currently doing freelance photography so if you are interested in a shoot, please do not hesitate to contact me!

My project dives into the world of women in motorsport – exploring the difficulties faced in the past by pioneers such as Dorothy Levitt and representing them in modern women in motorsport. This is presented through photographs that capture their strength, skill and determination, creating visual narratives that connect historical struggles with today’s evolving motorsport scene. I documented women across various disciplines, from studio fashion shoots to groups of bikers, highlighting how barriers once thought impossible to break are being broken one woman at a time.

As the project progressed, my focus naturally shifted and narrowed, leading me to centre largely on biker girls – a community often overlooked yet deeply embedded in motorsport culture. Through intimate portraits and group shots, I showcased their passion, resilience and unique identity, demonstrating that their journeys echo those of trailblazers like Levitt, while forging bold new paths of their own.
