“front page lee” - The very first make-up look for CreatureOnStreet, where I ended up simply vlogging myself walking through Cambridge.

Hi! My name is Lee and I am an aspiring content creator studying Digital Media Production. I’ve been creating videos since I was 10 years old and have a passion for making people giggle at their screen. I’m particularly interested in creating social media campaigns and helping people feel heard and seen.

During my studies at ARU, I have worked on a variety of projects, fulfilling the roles of researching, acting, video editing, podcasting and being myself! Whilst I love collaborating in a team to produce a body of work, I am interested in creating a solo project on creating entertaining content.

Through my work I aim to bring light to someone’s day, inspire people to be themselves and teach others not to judge.

Initially, CreatureOnStreet was a social media campaign involving an alien who just landed on Earth and wanted to get to know the locals of Cambridge through funny and interactive street interviews. Now it explores public reactions to unconventional self-expression through experimental make-up looks and vlog-type video content. Through freehand make-up looks ranging from none to everyday to extreme, this documents my experiences going out of one’s comfort zone whilst sharing fun facts. The project also compares audience engagement and how appearance can influence perception online and in public spaces.

With a combination of different filming techniques and camera set-ups this project aims to encourage greater acceptance of people who are considered “different” and to inspire others to be unapologetically and authentically themselves without the fear of judgement from those who just don’t get it.

This project hopes for a future continuation, experimenting with more looks, different locations and potentially street interviews with other small artists from Cambridge.
