I’m Levi, an up-and-coming fashion designer recently finishing my final year for my fashion design degree at ARU. I started off from a fine art, theatrical, and photography background, eager to create something whimsical and wonderful, but not really knowing what until I discovered fashion design, where over the past 3 years, I have been able to hone my craft and perfect my specialties.
My work in this final year focuses on performance wear, combining everyday Japanese fashion with the elegance and flair of the stage. I particularly love working with knitwear, drawn to it’s texture and plush feel as well as the way you can craft it to fit whatever your design. Through my designs I aim to create garments that can embrace the wearer’s oddities and bring the confidence to let them be themselves, making them feel seen, being a minority and a disabled creator I aspire to create works that’ll help and make others proud to be different. As I continue to grow on my fashion journey in the industry I am excited to break the mold and explore this combination of performance and comfortability for everyone who has ever felt unseen.

My final collection photoshoot
Inspired by the mystical bugs and Kami of the Japanese forests, this collection portrays the movement and beauty of nature. Hand-knit skirts will mimic flowing rivers and moss of trees and the forest floors, whilst velvet hakama and fleece waistcoats will embody the feel of mushroom gills and fluffy insects, impersonating their shapes. Earthy tones combined with neons and pastels will emphasise the enchanted nature of the life within forests, ultimately showing the extravagance of gender-neutral performance wear.
