My name is Madilyn, an abstract painter based in Bedfordshire, I have also completed three years of art and design at North Hertfordshire collage before going to study fine art at ARU.
My work is inspired by colour and music, using painting as a way to explore emotion when I’m painting to music, which influences my experiences as an autistic artist particularly how I process sound, colour and sensory information.
My project is based on colour and music and I wanted to show that through abstract art. This led me to create art works from songs I have listened to through out this project and I have used an arrange of materials in including squeegee and rollers instead of paint brushes. The kind of songs I have chosen during my project are songs I listen to repeatedly which is a way to help me process the sounds, as some songs I have listened to don’t have any lyrics to them.
My final piece is inspired by 4 songs from the album ‘SAILORWAVE II’ by Macross 82-99, which are all inspired by the music genre of Japanese city pop. This project made me express the way I feel when painting to the music and I hope the viewer also feels the same way when looking at my art.
