Hi, I’m Rae Cadman! I’m an illustrator who takes inspiration from vintage aesthetics, nature and classic literature. As I have been surrounded by antiques from a young age, it has informed my practice greatly, as I have come to see the beauty of the past and I want to implement these values into my current illustration work.
I mainly work in 3D, combining elements of handmade objects with vintage ephemera and materials such as textiles and patterns.

For my final project I wanted to hone my skills that I had been developing over my time at university. I curated my own illustrated version of the novel The Woman in Black, creating miniatures of key locations to both capture atmospheric and to act like a stage for the reader. This allows them to imagine their own versions of the characters in these places. I believe reading a book is very personal and how everyone imagines their own versions of characters is unique.
