I am an installation and mixed media artist based within Essex. My artistic practice has developed through experimentation with a variety of materials and processes, influenced by my personal experiences and interests.
My art explores the interplay between natural materials and systems of control, focusing on themes of fragility, environmental change and preservation.
I am drawn to processes shaped by the passage of time and environmental conditions. By allowing materials to fade, shift, or respond organically, my work captures the tension between human efforts to utilize control and the unpredictable nature of the environment. Additionally, my background in retail has heightened my awareness of labelling, packaging and organisational systems elements that I integrate into my artistic practice.
My work explores the relationship between natural materials and systems of control, focusing on themes of fragility, environmental change, and preservation. I create across various mediums including installation, watercolour, anthotype, and photography, combining different processes to establish connections between organic and industrial elements.
I am particularly interested in materials that respond to time and environmental conditions. My anthotype engage plant-based pigments that fade when exposed to light, allowing the work to undergo physical changes over time. My watercolour paintings emphasise minimal, atmospheric landscapes, utilising soft washes and subtle colours to suggest delicate and unstable environments. Photography is employed in my practice to document processes, capture nature and explore ideas of transformation and impermanence.
Through installation, I bring these elements together within a space, considering how materials are presented, contained, and experienced. My work reflects on how natural materials are managed, transported and affected by external conditions, highlighting the tension between human systems of control and the unpredictability of the natural world.
