Sound In Progress

I am a filmmaker drawn to stories about identity, growth, and belonging, told through worlds that feel immersive, detailed, and just beyond reach. I’m interested in filmmaking as a form of world-building: creating spaces that audiences don’t just observe, but enter, question, and return to.

Growing up in Cambridge, I was drawn to fantasy and science fiction, particularly Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. What stayed with me was not just the narrative, but the feeling of being transported and of stepping into a world with its own rules, textures, and atmosphere. That sense of immersion continues to shape how I think about film.

I have developed skills across directing, editing, cinematography, and sound, contributing to graduate films including Christmas Cards and Pentacide, where I worked in sound. These experiences showed me how even the smallest details especially sound can define how a world feels.

I want to create films that reward attention: layered, immersive spaces where meaning isn’t handed to the audience but discovered. As I move forward, I am focused on refining my voice through making.

Across Christmas Cards and Pentacide, my role focused on shaping narrative tone, character development, and emotional impact through storytelling. In Christmas Cards, I contributed to crafting a sensitive, character-driven story centred on an elderly woman navigating memory loss and loneliness. Attention was given to authentic dialogue, pacing, and visual storytelling to emphasise themes of nostalgia, family connection, and the significance of handwritten traditions in preserving human relationships.

In contrast, my work on Pentacide involved developing a darker, more complex narrative structure. I focused on building tension, constructing layered characters, and supporting a fragmented storyline that gradually reveals key information. The project required careful handling of tone, ensuring the psychological and moral themes, such as corruption, guilt, and justice remained engaging while maintaining suspense throughout.

Working across both films allowed me to demonstrate versatility, adapting my creative approach to suit vastly different genres while maintaining a consistent focus on storytelling, audience engagement, and emotional resonance.
